Project Open Hand:
One of our community project leaders, Soumya Sthavara, is leading a volunteer opportunity at Project Open Hand, an organization in San Francisco that serves meals to seniors and adults with disabilities! This event is open to all HOSA members and you will receive volunteer hours!
- Project open hand may have volunteer needs that involve handling meat and dairy products. If this is an area of sensitivity, please let us know, as there may not be other events available. Our group will volunteer in their Warehouse or Kitchen. Warehouse tasks may include bagging food items, stocking the Grocery Center shelves or shopping for their clients. Kitchen volunteers slice and dice whole food and help assemble meal packages for their clients.
- Closed-toed shoes
- Shirts with sleeves (no tank tops)
- Full length pants (no shorts/capris/skirts, etc.)
- A hat to cover your hair (if you do not want to wear a hair net)
DHS HOSA Events:
- Managing/Running booths on on-campus fundraisers (i.e. Henna Fundraiser)
- Putting together fundraisers (i.e. Finals Survival Kits)
- You are in charge of documenting your volunteer hours (so get your papers signed!)
